2205 stainless steel plate is a duplex stainless steel plate composed of 22% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum, and 4.5% nickel nitrogen alloy. This type of stainless steel plate has high strength, good impact toughness, and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance. Its yield strength is more than twice that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel, which allows for weight reduction in product design and gives this alloy a price advantage over 316 and 317L.
In addition, 2205 stainless steel plate also has good corrosion resistance and strong resistance to point corrosion and crevice corrosion in oxidizing and acidic solutions. Its dual phase microstructure helps to improve the stress corrosion cracking resistance of stainless steel, making it particularly suitable for the temperature range of -50 ° F/+600 ° F. However, applications beyond this temperature range may require consideration of other materials, especially when welding structures.
